There are a number of Bike Hire companies operating on the Waterford Greenway, some of which have similar names. Customers can understandably get confused between us from time to time so this is who we are and what we offer:
We are called Greenway Waterford Bike Hire and we are located at the WIT Sports Arena where we have over 300 FREE PARKING spaces and DIRECT ACCESS onto the Greenway from the car-park. We are only two minutes away from the Thomas Francis Meagher Toll bridge which makes us the perfect choice if coming from any County north, east or west of Waterford city.
Our location is also ideal for those who want to do a short cycle while taking in one of the most scenic stretches of the Greenway. Running alongside the beautiful River Suir, your cycle will take you past the site where the first Vikings arrived in Ireland, past the beautiful Mount Congreve Gardens and onto the Waterford and Suir Valley Railway Station.
Fairbrook House is another hidden treasure on the Waterford side of the Greenway, situated just 2 km past the railway station. It contains a walled garden, a tea room and a contemporary art gallery. Kilmacthomas itself is only 18 km away which makes it an ideal option for a return journey, stopping off for lunch in one of Kilmacthomas’ Cafés or pubs, including the Greenway’s most talked about lunch spot, The Coach House or in Kilmacthomas village itself where there is a local shop, cafe/restaurants and a number of pubs all serving food and beverages.
For those who wish to cycle the whole way to Dungarvan we have a Shuttle Bus available every Saturday from April to October and everyday in July/August. Shuttle Bus service is also available at anytime of the year for groups so please contact us for more information. If, on the other hand one is staying overnight in Dungarvan and cycling back the following day, you can rest assured knowing that your car will be safe in the WIT car-park. Finally, our location at the WIT Sports Arena has plenty of space for large groups or school tours to get themselves set up before heading out on their cycle. There is also FREE parking for buses.
As things currently stand, New Ross Greenway is under construction and will also be linking and joining up with us in the Waterford Greenway. This is due for completion by 2027.
